No electricity required. The pump body is constructed of ductile iron (GGG 40.3 or ASTM A395) with a swinging inlet check valve and a spherical outlet check valve. The internal trap mechanism is a stainless steel float connected to a built-in trap. The pump, trap and check valve mechanism are combined in the same pump body with no external seals or packings.
