Description
The Spirax Sarco BC3150 Boiler Drain Controller is a drain controller for steam boilers that controls the TDS value (Total Soluble Solids) by controlling the opening and closing of the drain valve. It works in conjunction with Spirax Sarco conductivity sensors, boiler drain valves or condensate drain valves and is available for panel, DIN rail or base plate mounting and is powered by a 99 to 264 volt AC supply. The front panel has a 3-digit LCD display and a five-button keypad. Parameter settings are stored in non-volatile memory (flash) and are confirmed by pressing OK after changing the parameters.

- The BC3150 complies with the EMC Directive 2014/30/EU and its requirements and is suitable for use in Class A environments (e.g. industrial) with a detailed EMC assessment, reference number UK Supply BH BC3150 2008.
- Conforms to the Low Voltage Directive and meets the safety requirements of the standard EN 61010 - 1:2001 for electrical equipment used in measurement, control and laboratories.
- Type-tested as TDS controller in accordance with standard Vd TÜV Water Control Devices 100 (07:2006) in UL listing (open).
functionality
- All ranges and operating parameters can be selected via the software menu and commissioned via the two buttons in the lower section.
- After commissioning, the TDS value displays μS/cm (ppm can also be selected).
- Conductivity exceeds the set point, the TDS value and 'bLd' are displayed alternately and the valve relay is energized until conductivity falls below the set point 5% full scale value.
- Conductivity exceeds the alarm value, the TDS value and 'AL' are displayed alternately and the valve relay is energized until the conductivity falls below the alarm point 3% full scale value.
- The system is flushing, alternately displaying the TDS value and 'Pur', and the valve relay is energized until the conductivity falls below set point 5% full scale value.

- Receives signals from Spirax Sarco conductivity sensors (CP10, CP30 or CP32).
- A PT100 temperature sensor can be accessed to provide temperature compensation (2%°C), which is recommended for situations such as changes in boiler operating pressure, and the default temperature setting is 184°C (10 bar g) when PT100 is not fitted.

- Pulse output: Small boilers can be pulsed to drain (10 seconds on, 20 seconds off) to prevent affecting the boiler water level triggering a low water level alarm.
- Provides a standard 4 - 20 mA output that can be used for remote TDS display or as an input signal to a computerized management system.
Other features
- All debugging parameters are password protected to prevent incorrect settings.
- It is possible to communicate with neighboring Spirax Sarco boiler controllers via IR. Neighboring products within a certain range can communicate via the IR bus. It is possible to transfer parameters from the product (OEM) to a device with RS485 (user). The product can only be set as an IR slave.

- Note: Ensure that there is no condensation inside the product before installing and connecting the power cord.
- Mounting: DIN rail, base plate or panel mounting in a suitable industrial control panel or fireproof enclosure (minimum IP54 (EN 60529 standard) or types 3, 3S, 4, 4X, 6, 6P and 13 (UL50/NEMA 250) required, Spirax Sarco offers suitable plastic and metal boxes).
- Installation Restrictions: Do not install outdoors (without additional weather protection); do not attempt to open the product; do not block infrared light between products.
- Compliance: In the UK, the IEE specification (BS 7671) needs to be followed, elsewhere the appropriate protocols need to be adhered to and all wiring materials and processes must comply with the appropriate EN and IEC standards.
- Maintenance: no special servicing, preventative maintenance or product checks are required, boiler water level controls and alarms need to be tested and checked, general guidance is given in Health and Safety Directive guidance PM5.
