The GESTRA RK76 is a high-end wafer-type non-return valve designed for industrial piping systems to reliably prevent the backflow of liquid, gas and steam media. With its disco construction, spring-assisted closing mechanism, support for any mounting position (horizontal or vertical) and precise centering by means of a helical center ring, the RK76 complies with the European Union's PED Pressure Equipment Directive and EN 558-1 standards, and features an extremely short mounting length (49 in the basic series) and a compact, lightweight design, making it an ideal choice for use in steam systems, chemical piping, and fluid transfer. The RK76 complies with the EU PED Pressure Equipment Directive and EN 558-1 standards.

Whether in hot water circulation, condensate recovery, mineral oil transfer or corrosive gas applications, the GESTRA RK76 provides low cracking pressures (2.5-18 mbar) and zero leakage protection for safe and stable system operation. A wide range of seat material options (metal-to-metal, PTFE, EPDM, FPM) are available to suit different media requirements and support PN 6/10/16/25/40 and ASME CL 125/150/300 pressure ratings.

Key Features and Benefits

  • compact designFace-to-face lengths of only 16-60 mm (depending on DN) allow for easy flange-to-flange clamping installation, saving space and reducing system weight.
  • Flexible installation: Built-in stainless steel spring supports installation on any flat surface; the springless version is suitable for vertical upward flow and adapts to complex piping layouts.
  • Low opening pressure: Standard 2.5-6.5 mbar (without spring) or 5-18 mbar (with spring), optionally with special spring (20-1000 mbar) to ensure reliable opening at minimum flow rate.
  • Durable materials: Valve body is 1.4107 chrome steel (DIN/EN) or SA217 CA15 (ASME) with 1.4571 stainless steel disc and spring for corrosion resistance for extreme environments from -190°C to 300°C.
  • Zero Leakage Guarantee: Leakage rates of Class D for metal seats and Class A for soft seals (EPDM/FPM) according to DIN EN 12266 prevent equipment damage or loss of efficiency due to backflow.
  • Customization Options: Silicone-free/grease-free versions, pickled passivation treatments, aperture hole designs, and ASME RF seals are supported to meet specific industry needs.

These features make the GESTRA RK76 stand out in industrial applications, offering higher reliability and lower maintenance costs.

Material composition

  • Body/seat/guide: 1.4107 chrome steel (DIN/EN) / SA217 CA15 (ASME).
  • Valve disc/spring retainer: 1.4571 stainless steel.
  • Spring: stainless steel.
  • Spiral center ring: 1.4310 chrome steel.

application scenario

The GESTRA RK76 is widely used:

  • Steam and condensate systems: Prevents steam backflow and protects pumps and heat exchangers.
  • Chemical and Petroleum Pipelines: Handles mineral oils, gases and corrosive fluids to ensure safe transportation.
  • Industrial gas/air lines: Reliable closure under low differential pressure for compressed air systems.
  • Water Treatment & HVAC: EPDM/PTFE seat option for water and neutral media.

Note: Not recommended for severe pulsatile flow or high differential pressure; smaller sizes are recommended for DN 65/80 to optimize performance.

Installation and Maintenance Guide

Installation steps

  1. Verify that the direction of media flow is consistent with the valve body arrow.
  2. Place the valve between the two flanges and tighten evenly in diagonal sequence using standard gaskets and long bolts (torque according to flange standards).
  3. Ensure installation with zero system pressure; spring-loaded versions can be installed in any orientation, non-spring-loaded only vertically upward.
  4. Verify minimum volumetric flow to hold the valve disc open (see data sheet for details).

Maintenance recommendations

  • regular inspection: Clean valve discs and seats and check spring integrity every 6-12 months.
  • fault resolution::
    • Leakage: Clean foreign material or replace seat.
    • Does not open: Check spring pressure or medium viscosity.
  • Replacement parts: Bonnet is removable for easy replacement of springs or discs; use genuine factory parts to ensure compatibility.

Proper maintenance can extend the life of the RK76 to over 10 years.
