The Armstrong 11-AV Air Vent Valve is a high performance product from Armstrong International designed for the positive venting of air and gas in industrial and commercial liquid systems. As an all stainless steel free-floating lever air/gas vent valve, it excels in high-pressure environments and is widely used in HVAC systems, steam treatment, ozonated water systems and contact tanks. The valve utilizes an advanced seal design to ensure reliability and durability, making it ideal for use in corrosive environments.

Product Characteristics

  • Corrosion resistant all stainless steel construction: The body and lid are welded from 304-L stainless steel to form a permanently sealed, tamper-resistant unit that eliminates the need for gaskets and resists internal and external corrosion. The float is 304 stainless steel, the lever system uses hardened chrome steel (17-4PH), and the valves and seats are 303/304 stainless steel (316 stainless steel optional) to ensure long term stable operation.
  • High-capacity emissions: Oval float and high lever design provides up to 115 SCFM (approximately 195 m³/h) air/gas discharge capacity for high pressure applications.
  • Precision control mechanisms: Guided lever action ensures proper valve seating under a variety of operating conditions. Utilizes the same proven free-floating mechanism as Armstrong steam traps to support liquids with minimum specific gravity as low as 0.50.
  • High Pressure Adaptability: Maximum allowable pressure up to 500 psig @ 100°F (34 barg @ 38°C), maximum working pressure of 400 psig (28 barg) for high temperature environments up to 500°F (260°C).
  • Certification and Compliance: Compliance with CE, CRN and PED standards ensures safety and international compatibility.

technical specification

  • connection size: 1/2" (15 mm) and 3/4" (20 mm), supports threaded (NPT) and socket weld connections; optional flange (PN40).
  • Size & WeightDimensions: A size 70 mm, B size 183 mm; weight approx. 0.80 kg for threaded/SW connection, 2.9-4.0 kg for flange connection.
  • Bore Options and Pressure::
    • 1/8" orifice: 12 bar at 0.75 SG, 8 bar at 0.50 SG.
    • #38 Orifice: 18 bar at 0.75 SG, 12 bar at 0.50 SG.
    • 5/64" orifice: 28 bar at 0.75 SG, 21 bar at 0.50 SG.
  • float weight: Standard 82 grams, Special (0.50 SG) 59 grams.
  • Scope of Application: Suitable for hydronic heating/cooling systems, chemical processing, pharmaceuticals and industrial gas discharges, and excels especially in corrosive media.

Installation and Maintenance Guide

Simple installation: Use of threaded or welded connections ensures that the valve is mounted vertically to optimize the float mechanism. The welded design eliminates the risk of gasket leakage. Low maintenance requirements, due to the sealed construction, frequent disassembly is not necessary; regular checking of the system pressure is sufficient. All dimensions are approximate and it is recommended to refer to certified drawings for accurate installation. Other flange sizes and face-to-face dimensions are available on request.
